The Humanist Society of Iowa was established 15 years ago. They have a book club and do video watch parties about science, theism, and nontheist. They have 40-50 members. The demographic is mostly educated white people though they are willing to accept anyone. They are in the First Unitarian Church and Stine Barn. They are members of the American Humanist Association.
The book club is on the first and third Sundays of the month at the First Unitarian Church and the video watch parties are on Saturdays before the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month. The key issues that the Humanist Society of Iowa tries to address are the separation of Church and State, social justice, scientific Integrity, promoting peace, supporting progressive legislation, protecting, and defending Secular America, electing secular leaders, and supporting non-theists. They are guided by reason, inspired by compassion, and informed by experience.
