First Church of Christ, Scientist of Des Moines is a branch of The First Church of Christ, Scientist of Boston, Massachusetts. The denomination was founded in 1879 by Mary Baker Eddy whose book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures is the textbook of Christian Science, which is used as a “practical explanation of the spiritual teachings of the Bible.”
