Student Testimonial
Located on Des Moines’s south side, Fort Des Moines Open Bible Church takes pride in being a multi-generational and Christ-centered local church. Their mission is supported by three foundational beliefs. First, assisting individuals to form a personal relationship with their savior Jesus Christ is transformative. Second, that their community is a family and that they strengthen each other. Third, they support congregants to reach out to other networks so they can bring “Jesus to a broken world.” As a member of the Open Bible Churches [association], they are committed to producing disciples, building up leaders, and starting new churches.
A review of their statement of faith can tell you a lot about this church’s beliefs. For example, they believe that the Bible is infallible that they believe there is only one God, and that three persons (the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) make up the Godhead. They also believe in substitutional atonement which means that Jesus’s death on the cross served as sacrifice for everyone.
In alignment with the core message of Colossians chapter three verse eleven of the Christian Bible, Open Bible Churches is a strong proponent of Racial Unity. Their Unity Commission has developed anti-racism resources to empower its leaders and congregants.
The offices for their Central Region, which includes Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota, and the Open Bible Churches are in Des Moines as well.
