Greek Orthodox Christian services incorporate a lot of liturgical elements including creedal recitations, liturgical prayers, and Bible readings.
The culmination of the service is the Eucharist, which can only be participated in if one is baptized into one of the Orthodox Christian Churches.
Note that Orthodox Christians cross themselves from right shoulder to left (rather than left shoulder to right, as Roman Catholics do).

In 1924, Saint George Orthodox Church was established on 35th Street in the Drake neighborhood. St. George Orthodox Church is also the oldest Orthodox Christian Church in the metro area to this day. Almost two hundred Greek immigrants in central Iowa formed a Kinotis, also known as a Greek society, and that was how it was created. Later in 1929, after some difficult year, they secured their first priest from Greece. The community soon bought a church building in 1930 for $22,000. Today, the parish comprises 184 member families. The church continues to grow and has had many different nationalities and ethnicities including, Serbians, Russians, North Africans, Greeks, and Ethiopians. While most of these nationalities have now started their own church or community they all gathered in 1997 at Saint George for a very special event- a visit by the Ecumenical Patriarch.
